KhronologicKhronologic is a brand new $1.99 game in the App Store.  I was curious to check it out after my review of Ice Age:Dawn of the Dinosaurs because it takes a platform game in a new direction.  The game is a bit of a challenge to me, but a really nice feature does a good job of keeping it from getting too frustrating.  Is the same way may turn-based games have an “undo” option, Khronologic lets your “rewind” your actions to a certain point and start replaying the level again from there.  I haven’t seen that before in a platform game and really like it.

The game offers 40 different levels and is loosely based on the popular game Braid.  I’m not familiar with Braid, but after looking it up, it seems that it is more of a retro classic game in the style of Briad as opposed to a port of that.  I believe those expecting to play Braid are disappointed, while those players like me that had never heard of it before can really enjoy the game for what it is.

One of the nice things about this game is the built-in editor that will allow you to create your own custom levels.  These levels can be shared with others and you can browse and download new levels from an online repository of them.  So, while the graphics are not as rich as something like Toki Tori or Ice Age, I can see where the expandability of the game as people start creating and sharing puzzle levels as something that will be a real plus and justify a price point that is currently a dollar more than both Toki Tori and Ice Age.  If level development really takes off, this platformer just might make my must-have list.
